A business plan is composed of two main elements:

A narrative that describes a business.  This part of the business plan should describe the product or service you sell, describe the market for the product or service and give details of how your business sells and provides the product or service.

A financial summary that gives details as to how your business can profit and grow in the future.  This section of the business plan includes a budget that forecast annual profits and cash flow, and displays your end-year balance sheet for three to five years.  Also included within this section are historical financial statements (i.e., profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements) for the last few years of the business operation.
